Design
Of course, as mentioned in the section on Scheduling, we do a lot of design planning and maintain six-month, three-month and one-month look-ahead programmes so that, at all times, management can easily understand the work capacities in each sector of our business. We always allow a little spare capacity so that we may always address those "last-minute" jobs that arise from time to time. Design itself is managed, the work being allocated to the most experienced available engineer in that field at that time. All Engineers are supported by the management team in terms of practical proposals being released in a timely manner to meet the Clients' brief. A major project might have a design leader or team chef put in charge so that a common architectural approach is maintained throughout. Continuity is very important across any project and we allow our team chefs to execute their own discretion on many of the matters arising, on a day to day basis. We have completed one project with a variety of finishes, thinking carefully through an option to make one system meet all the various criteria for all the wall-types. We were successful with that and the time and cost savings for our Client were considerable. |
